LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING AT THE CUTTING-EDGE
Due to an overwhelming number of applications our GBM Technology
programme is now closed. If you would like to be considered should any
places become available at a later date, please complete our expression of interest form.
At a glance
The remit of our technology team goes far beyond support. In the fiercely competitive world of finance, it’s vital we have the best technology at our fingertips.
Technology is at the heart of everything we do. It allows us to trade across time zones, perform complex calculations, transfer funds and disseminate information. That’s why we design, build and maintain our systems in-house. If we want to retain our competitive edge, we need the very best customised solutions.
Graduates who join this programme choose between two different streams: Application Development/Support or Infrastructure Services & Control. Once assigned, they undertake a number of rotations that give them a broad understanding of financial projects and product styles. In Application Development, you can expect to be building, integrating and delivering solutions for a specific business. In Infrastructure Services & Control, your role will be to offer front-line system and data support to different parts of the business.
Once training is complete, the possibilities are virtually limitless. Analysts in Application Development/Support could find themselves working in Debt and Treasury; Equities; Risk and Finance; or Client, Operations and Lending. Likewise, in Infrastructure Services & Control, there’s the option to specialise in End-User Computing; Network and Trading Services; Infrastructure Engineering and Architecture; or Data Centre Services.
What we look for
Technical skills are not essential but if you can demonstrate a keen interest in finance and technology this would be a distinct advantage. Many of our graduate trainees have degrees in engineering, maths, economics, computer science and the physical sciences. However, if you can display a high level of numeracy and strong analytical skills, you should not let your degree subject prevent you from applying.
