LOOKING FORWARD TO DRIVING MY OWN CAREERIn GBM, we pride ourselves on offering a unique and world-class development programme.
Our
graduate programmes range from two to three years and each one has its
own development structure. No matter which programme you choose, you
will gain all the technical and practical experience you need to be
successful in your role.
All graduates attend an initial
global induction in London. This is designed to equip you with a core
set of skills. As well as business simulations, case studies and group
assignments, there will be intensive classroom learning. These sessions
will teach you about the financial and capital markets and our distinct
proposition within them.
You will then receive intensive
technical training in your regional location. The content of this will
vary according to the programme, but once this is complete you will be
able to hit the ground running in your very first placement. From this
point on, you will receive regulatory training and support to gain
professional qualifications that are relevant to your role.
You
can also expect to be assigned a buddy and a mentor right from the
outset. This network – comprising a recent graduate and a senior member
of the business – will assist you with the transition from university.
Although each programme is different, this will give you a rough idea of the key milestones in our graduate development scheme.
Months 1–2 – A warm welcome
- Global induction in London (2 weeks).
- Initial technical training (6 weeks).
Month 2 – Getting down to work
- Buddy and mentor assigned.
Months 2–12 – Developing your knowledge
- Rotate between different desks or teams.
- Performance review every 6 months.
- Regular meetings with buddy and mentor.
- Monthly presentations and events led by graduate network.
Months 12–24/36 –Transitioning to the role
- Individual development plan created.
- Study for professional qualifications.
