At a glance
- Entry criteria – you have an average of 70 in your degree (equivalent to a High Credit or Distinction average).
- You are in your final year of study, ideally with:
GBM Banking and GBM Markets: A major in finance, business, economics, law, mathematics, actuarial studies or accounting.
In addition to the majors listed above, GBM Technology will also consider graduates who have strong degrees in engineering, computer sciences and physical sciences.

On this 2-year programme you will develop your skills for an analytical career by:
GBM Banking
Mergers & Acquisitions Analyst
- assist M & A professionals on providing strategic advice to clients,
- undertake detailed financial analysis of companies including valuations,
- drive deal origination through pitch presentation,
- work with other areas of the wholesale bank to facilitate funding of transactions, for example Equity Capital Markets.
Primary Debt Markets & Infrastructure (PDMI) Analyst
- being part of a Bid Team bidding for major Infrastructure Projects across Australia,
- working with the Debt Capital Markets team to develop optimal debt issuances for Corporate and Financial Institution clients,
- working with Financial Models to create and develop financial structures, products and valuations,
- develop an understanding of the Securitisation market and assist with implementing new finance solutions.
GBM Markets
Equities Analyst
- assisting analysts in researching listed corporations, including modelling, financial analysis, industry background information and competitor behaviour,
- generating ideas and preparing material for presentation to clients,
- being a key support member to the Institutional Equities team; and,
- developing an understanding of the Institutional Equities stockbroking business including client landscape, competitive dynamics, business order flow and client service requirements and techniques.
Markets Analyst
- being a key support member to the Trading functions within FX, Credits, Money Markets and Interest Rate Products,
- working with the sales and structuring teams to develop and optimise trade ideas for clients,
- assisting in the resource and analytics around macro economics and individual company performance,
- constructing/manipulating pricing models for financial products; and,
- being involved in the monitoring and interpretation of the risk metrics within the markets business.

Analyst
- working in a division that is at the heart of everything we do,
- working with the very best customised solutions,
- rotations that give you a broad understanding of financial projects and product styles,
- in Application Development, you can expect to be building, integrating and delivering solutions for a specific business,
- in Infrastructure Services & Control, your role will be to offer front-line system and data support to different parts of the business,
- in addition to the majors listed above, Technology will also consider graduates who have strong degrees in Engineering, Computer Sciences and Physical Sciences.
