Hopefully, by now, you’ll have a better idea what graduate careers at RBS are all about. Would you like to progress things further? Here’s how to get the ball rolling.
First and foremost, you need to be a good team player. Someone who recognises their individual strengths and understands the benefits of working together in a collaborative way. Team sports and part-time jobs can be just as good for demonstrating this as any commercial experience you’ve gained.
It is important that you think carefully about which programme would best suit your skill set and interests, and don’t forget you can use the programme selector on the website to help you make that all important decision.
Once you have decided on which programme is right for you, and are ready to apply, the first thing you need to do is complete our short online application form. Please provide us with your academic achievements and previous employment history. For Global Banking & Markets and Corporate Banking you will also be asked to upload your CV and complete three competency-based questions.
The next stage of the selection process varies depending on which programme you’ve applied for, but they all follow a broadly similar format of psychometric tests, structured interviews and assessment centres – where you’ll take part in a variety of individual and group exercises.
Your results and contributions are assessed individually – we want to find out how you work, and whether we are a good match for each other. We’ll make it clear what’s expected of you at every stage and, in between, get back to you as quickly as we can.
One last thing to remember is that we want to see you at your best, and we’ll give you every opportunity to shine.
Applications open from 1st September, 2009, and we start assessing from October so please apply as soon as possible.
If you are applying from within the US, please contact your Careers Service for more information.
